Life has been busyhecticexcitingchaotic for me as of late. It's definitely been awhile since I've updated, so I'll try to hit everything:
The last 3 weekends have been spent with my muse. We've had a wonderful time exploring portland, sleeping in, drinking too much vodka and eating lots of rich food. It's been wonderful. It definitely cuts into my 'computer time,' but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make (insert smiley face here).
This last week was pretty monumental. I was contacted by the Human Resources department on monday about a full-time job position (Application Engineer) opening up on campus. Now, as you know, I returned to Nike as an intern, with no assurance of a job after my 10 weeks was over. I expressed interest and an interview was set up for thursday. I spent the nights leading up to the interview brushing up on my Java kung-fu and thinking of answers to the stress-enducing 'competency' questions that Nike is renound for.
Thursday morning at 8, my interview starts with the manager of the group and the lead developer. They take turns asking me questions, both technical and conceptual. I do pretty well. About halfway throught he hour-and-a-half interview, a junior developer walks in and starts grilling me with some rough questions that make me squirm. I put on my charming face and do the best I can, smiling a lot. Before I know it, it's over. I shake hands and go back to work.
Friday rolls around, I take my lunch, call sledg (WHO WAS DRIVING TO LA!) and chat with him about the ultrasavage Girl Talk album for a few when I get a call from an unknown number. I answer. It's the manager from the group I interviewed for. I accept the job.
I'm a full-time employee. Thank Jesus. Those student loans were starting to look mighty daunting. I have already begun spending my 2grand signing bonus on books and such.
I float on a cloud for the rest of the day. At 3:30, I dip out of work and drive home. About halfway to the Rogue Valley, my amp overheats and destroys itself. It takes my subwoofers with it. Fuck. Not cool. It was so fucking hot. I drank at least a gallon of liquid and didn't stop to urinate the entire way home. So hot.
I arrived around 8ish to surprise the woman. We visited my parents, watched Clerks II (which was about 3/4 suck) and fell asleep, hot and tired. The rest of the weekend was spent around the pool or driving around town. I even got to visit jeryl & darlia, who have some BIGBIGBIG news, but I'll let him tells you.
Today was a great, lowkey birthday. I spent most of the evening working on the Mixtape Collective with a little break to go eat dinner at a 24-hour steak-and-pancake house. I ate 3. I'm still very full.
Saturday marks the first 'boys-night' for the Jumpfighter crew in ages. Jeryl, Zac, Sledg, Raby, Jon and I are all going to see the Murder City Devils one-night-only reunion show in Seattle. Boy howdy am I pumped.
Anyway, it's late. I'd write more, but it's all pretty standard fare. Life is good on my end. Really fucking good.
I love you all.
