I'm curious about something: I'm beginning to wonder if I've had it all wrong. For so long now I've been thinking that when you know you've met that special someone, you know. You get the butterflies, you get the shortness of breath, you get the stupid grin on your face... all because that one person is the one person who is going to complete you.

But what if the person who gives you butterflies is also the person who makes you cry?

What if instead you meet someone who is is nice, good looking, treats you well, makes you laugh, is completely compatible with you in almost every way, and really enjoys taking care of you? What if that person lines up almost perfectly with everything you want in life, keeps a similar lifestyle, is understanding of your little splurges and creature comforts?

But this person doesn't give you butterflies at all.

Is the 'happily ever after' supposed to stem from the butterflies and then develop into total compatibility, or stem from compatibility and develop into butterflies? And if there aren't butterflies does that mean you settle for the compatibility or do you keep looking for the butterflies?

Is there a 'happily ever after?'

I only ask because I realized the other day that this isn't something that I ever really hear people talk about. People get together, decide to get serious, then get married. But do they get married because it's all butterflies and fireworks, or because they know, long-term, their partner is going to mesh well with their life? What comes first, the chicken or the egg?

Does this make any sense?

Just curious, that's all.

always.....

Insight, anyone?
