Birthday in Siena, ooo-da-lah-lee
So yesterday was bitchin'. This balloon sort of set the day off on a good foot. My Unkle David came into Siena on Thursday to get a glimpse of Italy and join in on the festivities of the weekend. On Saturday we went to Assisi, the land of Saint Francis - the that was sort of like Mary Poppins, (preaching the words of God to the birds). The town itself was tiny, while the Chapel of St. Francis was ginormous. They place was packed with tourists to see his tomb and relics of his stigmata; pretty creepy actually - a Catholic Disneyland.
For the official day of birth, we went to Florence (Disneyworld of the entire history of Western Art). There is too much to do there, it exausting just to think about the place. Got to see some rediculous artwork, (if you ever want faith in humanity look upo Peter Paul Rubens, Donatello, Rafael, Massacio, Titian, Jaccupo Zucchi, Cimabue and that one dude with the Orange nun-chucks, Michaelangelo), seriously this is stuff that gives mankind a good name.
Later that night, the peeps of the house made a huge cake, chicken, pasta and served rounds of vino. Afterwords hit a few bars, carried around a drunkard
went to the weekend amusement park, knocked downsome cans, won a bear (stole two), and played an improv game of Futbol-scoccer-whatever with some carnies . . . . totally sweet.
You were/are all in my thoughts, and I miss yall like crazy. I tried starting a Tom Waits sing along, but all I got was frowns.
yep, moere info soon, I' going to Rome this weekend to hang with il nuovo papa, tell him a thing or two about how cool the band Hella is . . . until next time here's some something to ponder:
