I got hooked up with a sick pair of sample Spizikes today. Savage. as. hell.
Also, today was my department's belated 'holiday' party. It was on a boat and turned out to be pretty fun. The music, however, blew my mind. Volume so low, it was almost subliminal. Anyway, here's what I recall of it:
1 -- the indigo girls: galileo
2 -- lynrd skynrd: sweet home alabama
3 -- marvin gay and tammi terrell : ain't no mountain (twice, back to back)
4 -- steve miller: space cowboy (twice, back to back)
5 -- bill withers - lean on me*
6 -- jimmy buffett -- margaritaville (twice, back to back)
Very strange, weak selection for the event.
Towards the end, my boss's boss's boss got up to give a little thank you speech. It was kind and full of praise. As she dove into the most sincere part of her speech, the song ended and switched. The next song on the playlist was Tom Petty's "Freefallin'", which set a victorious, cinematic soundscape for the speech. Unbelievable timing. It was fucking hillarious -- trust me.
