1. On my birthday, Feb. 26th, I invited about 12 people out to THE BOILER ROOM to karaoke. No one showed up. I was kinda glad to go home early and undrunk. It makes your ego feel like this though.

2. I got the new directors series dvd box set featuring the works of Jonathan Glazer, Mark Romanek, Anton Corbjin, and Stephane Sandenou (something like that). The Glazer and Romanek discs are rightly deserved, but the other dudes are fucking bonewagons. I'd much rather have one of the discs be Hype Williams, and if you know your music video directors, thats saying something. A curious cameo in the Romanek directed "99 Problems" JayZ video, Vincent Gallo. I never know what to think about that guy.

3. After watching the complete first season of TWIN PEAKS (minus the pilot), we finally were able to track down the whole second season (not available on dvd). It was the collection on VHS tapes from the Portland Central Library. I dont need to explain what condition the tapes were in as Im sure you can guess. Old tapes, available to the public for a long time. This brought me to 2 thoughts:
a. What did we do when there was no internet or cell phones and all we had was VHS tapes? Did we really watch movies in that condition sometimes? Im trying to remember, really I am.
b. Twin Peaks has probably been the series that is most mishandled by studio beaurocracy. Seriously, They release the first season on DVD (minus the pilot), then they don't release the second season on DVD at ALL. They release the movie prequel that is supposed to explain the series, but its the severely cut theatrical version that only makes a little sense. This despite there being over two hours of deleted footage and the trend of releasing directors cuts of everything on DVD. This is a serial-like series that makes you need to have seen the previous episode, and makes you thirst for the next like crack.

-Under a Billion Suns - Mudhoney - haven't gotten around to it.
-Aphex Twin - Hangable Auto Bulb - Dated, but good.

One last thing people should keep an eye out for is a Beastie Boys song titled "Honkey Rink". It's on the GRATITUDE single. Im not going to say much more except its definately worth your time if you like to smile.

4. I watched the movie THE WEATHER MAN. It was probably one of the most depressing movies Ive ever watched. Like Requiem for a Dream depressing. It was good though. I think its kinda underrated.

5. I didnt watch the oscars, as usual. And the worse movie won, as usual. In my opinion GOODNIGHT AND GOOD LUCK was the best movie that was nominated. Capote was excellent as well.

Im working on getting a short fillm i made on the internet so it can be viewed by the endysis squad. So keep an eye out.

I watched "The Weatherman" last night -- I didn't think it was all that depressing. It resolved in a strange way, but it was for the better. I thought it was pretty decent.

It was really beautifully filmed. I agree, something about that quick resolution didn't sit right with me.
